JOB TITLE: Field Service Engineer

MANAGER:  Field Service Director

DEPARTMENT: Field Services

Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of Plastic Processing Machinery (injection molding, blow molding, compression molding machines) and support/auxiliary equipment in Ohio and surrounding areas. The candidate may be asked to travel outside the area. The candidate will work with customers and the internal support groups of Molding Machine Services to provide total customer satisfaction.

Qualification and Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of Field Service experience.
  • Associate’s Degree in electronics/mechanical /hydraulic engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience, electrical/mechanical /hydraulics in a manufacturing environment.​
  • Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical /hydraulic diagrams.
  • A reliable car is required, candidate will be compensated per Diem mileage rate for the use of their vehicle, and be willing to travel.
  • 12-16 days/month travel with the possibility of more as the need arises.
  • Candidate must have a passport or have no restrictions against obtaining one.
  • Experience with computers and computer applications.​

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as the person will be working closely with the project customers, internal and external managers.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, start-up, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade and modify new or existing Plastic Processing Machinery (injection molding, blow molding, compression molding machines and/or auxiliary equipment) in the customer facility.
  • Complete understanding of machinery safety systems. Must test, verify, and document all safeties on machinery or equipment. Document all discrepancies and inform customer of any concerns.
  • Test machinery’s mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to diagnose suspected problems or customer concerns.
  • Provide engineering and technical information by responding to questions and requests from the customer.
  • Maintain complete customer focus and professional relationship with customer and their employees with the customer’s priorities in mind.
  • Must have a sense of urgency related to performance and problem solving.
  • Assisting other field service engineers and solve technical/​engineering problems.
  • Reporting all the issues and process to other field service engineers and managers.
  • Maintain and fill out field service reports, expense reports and all other required reports from projects.

  • Strong organizational skills as there are many projects which are on-going projects and reporting requirements.​
  • The position will handle, maintain and safeguard certain company confidential information.​  You will be expected to do so with the highest levels of confidentiality and sensitivity.​

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.​ The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and hydraulic oil under pressure.  Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Occasional supervisory responsibilities are required over Field Service Engineering Assistance to assure project is completed in a safe, time effective manner, meeting the customers’ expectations.

                                        Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.​
